Effluent Disposal

The effluent disposal system is the part that disposes of the treated effluent. This function is paramount to the operation of all septic systems and without it the flow of effluent comes to a halt preventing toilets from flushing.  There are many different types of effluent disposal but the two main methods are surface and subsurface disposal. There are advantages and disadvantages of both methods but the main difference is the requirement for disinfection for surface disposal due to the possibility of contact with people. Subsurface disposal can either be gravity fed or pumped under pressure.
